IPod Shuffle second gen…how/can I?

I have a second gen Ipod shuffle. I uploaded a bunch of cds 3 years ago that I dont own anymore on a computer other than my own. I havent used this thing in forever and I recently started to listen to it again. I have a brand new laptop and I downloaded ITunes on it. All of the new music I have on here was automatically converted to the ITunes format. I really want to keep the old songs from the IPod and transfer them to ITunes or at least somewhere else on my computer then clear out the IPod and start fresh. I dont see and option anywhere that says I can transfer music already on the IPod from the old library (on the old computer) to the new one. All it asks is if I want to sync with the new library…..can someone help me out bc I REALLY want to keep this old music!!!!!!!!
