IPod Shuffle second gen…how/can I?

I have a second gen Ipod shuffle. I uploaded a bunch of cds 3 years ago that I dont own anymore on a computer other than my own. I havent used this thing in forever and I recently started to listen to it again. I have a brand new laptop and I downloaded ITunes on it. All of the new music I have on here was automatically converted to the ITunes format. I really want to keep the old songs from the IPod and transfer them to ITunes or at least somewhere else on my computer then clear out the IPod and start fresh. I dont see and option anywhere that says I can transfer music already on the IPod from the old library (on the old computer) to the new one. All it asks is if I want to sync with the new library…..can someone help me out bc I REALLY want to keep this old music!!!!!!!!

No, not that kind of jailbreak…the other kind. If you haven’t come across it yet, Jailbreaking is the rage in cell phone technology.

Imagine you have this great new cell phone, with all kinds of wonderful applications. There is just one little problem; it is missing one important touch or possibly an application that you need. Unfortunately your phone doesn’t support it. Do you have to just settle for what the manufacturer gave you or what your cell provider wants to offer? Increasingly the answer is NO. What you can do is to Jailbreak your phone.

Though I am very proud of my degree as an electrical engineer, I don’t know much about jailbreaking your phone. However, I do know a bit about entrepreneurship and how you can use it as a tool to Jailbreak Your Life.

In a post called, The Pwnage Tool & Jailbreaking an IPhone, blogger Robert Bockenkamp (from the blog named What Do You Know), introduced me to jailbreaking. In all fairness, I need to start out by saying that Robert does not advocate jailbreaking your phone. He points out clearly that he is only explaining to you what it is.

I, on the other hand, not only want to explain to you what jailbreaking your life is, I want to encourage and possibly even help you in taking the first step. But let’s begin with Robert’s definitions:

Pwnage Tools is a program that facilitates the jailbreaking of an iPhone or iPod Touch.

Technical Definition of Jailbreak: The iPhone and iPod touch hack that allow users to gain access to the entire Unix file system. In Unix terms, this refers to changing the root of the directory tree to /.

Understandable Definition of Jailbreak:A hack that gains access to areas of the iPhone or iPod Touch that users aren’t supposed to mess with. Typically, this is an immediate prelude to either installing cool programs, unlocking the handset for use with another cellular network, or both.

Through jailbreaking, you are able to add additional applications to your iPhone or iPod Touch. It allows you to do so by adding an application called Cydia (firmware 2.x) or Installer (firmware 1.1.4 and below) to your iPhone or iPod Touch. It also also modding (changing) of your iPhone/iPod Touch application icons, wallpaper, dock, status bar, chat bubbles, weather backgrounds, keyboard

On to Jailbreaking your life

So, do words like the following interest you:

• Ending the pawn age (pwnage)
• Controlling parts of your life that you aren’t supposed to mess with
• Installing really cool programs into your life

Then it is probably time to begin thinking about how to Jailbreak Your Life. Entrepreneurship is the tool to free up life for many people.

You will want to know how to do your market research and how to develop customers in as cost effective manner as possible. That means you will be interested in social media marketing as a free tool to help with marketing. The estimate is that 95% of business failure results from a lack of sound market research.

Start developing your business while you are still working. Get the momentum going before you make your break. That way you can protect your retirement funds and possibly not need them to start your business. One possible way is to hone your marketing skills promoting some simple version of your product or service as you work out the details.

Use Google to search for information targeted to baby boomer entrepreneurs and baby boomer business owners. There are many fine advisors who provide information to you without the hype that sometimes appears in other business opportunity information. They also want you in their audience, in many cases because they are baby boomers themselves and understand your common history and those things that may be unique to baby boomer entrepreneurs.

So, fellow Baby Boomer Entrepreneurs, we don’t have to settle for what life wants to give us. We can use entrepreneurship as the tool to live life by design in the second stage of life. Jailbreak Your Life!
